Triads formed using only notes in the major & minor scales


Chords in Major Scale

Major Scale
Triads that are formed on degrees I, IV and V are major. Those formed on
degrees II, III and VI are minor & the triad formed on degree VII is diminished.



Chords in Natural Minor Scale

Natural Minor Scale
Triads that are formed on degrees I, IV and V are minor. The triad formed
on degree II is diminished & those formed on degrees III, VI and VII are major.



Chords in Melodic Minor Scale

Melodic Minor Scale
Triads that are formed on degrees I and II are minor. The triad formed on
degree III is augmented, those triads formed on degrees IV and V are major
& degrees VI and VII triads are diminished.



Chords in Harmonic Minor Scale

Harmonic Minor Scale
Triads that are formed on degrees I and IV are minor. Those formed on
degrees II and VII are diminished, the triad formed on degree III is
augmented & those formed on degrees V and VI are major.
